silvestre technique

The Silvestre Technique is a contemporary Brazilian dance approach bridging the foundations of modern dance with Afro-Brazilian cultural symbols and gestures. Moving through a series of exercises -"conversations with the body," the Silvestre Technique works to unify the body, mind, and spirit for dance through physical and expressive training, creating a solid movement foundation for dancers of all backgrounds regardless of level or previous training. Exercises engage the Four nature elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire; The Three Triangles: Balance, Expression, Intuition/Perception,  the Universe- Earth Connection, and the Chakras

Every January and August, dancers from all over the world come to Salvador Bahia to participate in the bi-annual Silvestre Technique Trainings. For more information on the Silvestre Technique trainings in Brazil visit
